What determines the price of frozen shrimp?
Species and count set the band first: 16/20 vannamei, 31/40 vannamei and black tiger are priced differently. On top of that come the format (shell on, peeled, tail on), the glaze percentage and net weight basis, any treatment declared, the harvest season, the order volume and the incoterm, FOB or CIF. Send your counts through the Request Quote button for a current figure.
What do counts such as 16/20 and 31/40 mean?
The count states how many shrimp make up one pound. The lower the number, the larger the shrimp: 16/20 is close to jumbo, while 31/40 gives a smaller piece and a lower cost per portion. Choose the count from the number of pieces and the plated weight your menu needs, and state the net weight basis alongside it in the order.
Do you supply frozen shrimp to Dubai and the UAE?
Yes. Shrimp ships from Malaysia to Gulf ports in a frozen reefer container on FOB or CIF terms. We prepare the specification, health and origin documents for the destination market before loading. The lead time depends on the production slot and the sailing, so it is confirmed per order once the booking is in place.
Which format suits a hotel or catering operation?
PD removes all kitchen labour and works for volume production, pasta and stir fries. PDTO keeps the tail for tempura, cocktails and plated presentations. Black tiger HOSO suits grilling and traditional preparations where the shell carries flavour and presentation. The right choice balances presentation against the labour hours your kitchen can give to preparation.
